For those who are interested, I've attached a photo of Wyatt's ileostomy (both "un-bagged" and "bagged"). We change the bag every two to three days and empty it with every diaper change.
We received a bit of disappointing news this week. Based on the findings of a contrast enema/x-ray procedure that was performed on Wyatt this week, he will not be able to get his surgery next week to put his intestines back together, as planned. Via the x-ray, the surgeon found another area of Wyatt's intestine that probably also had NEC (necrotizing entercolitis) in November, however, it never actually ruptured. So, the surgeon wants to give his intestine another three months to try to heal itself and then he will run another x-ray study. So, needless to say, we are on hold for at least three more months. It is not too terrible of news, just throws a wrench into our going-back-to-work/daycare plans, but I'm sure we'll come up with something.
